This is the story of Shah Ahmadi from Iran. He was raised in a household with 5 sisters and brothers. His father took him to the mosque at the age of 8. At age 13 he was ranked #1 in memorizing the Qur'an in his city. He was smart and zealous. Shah finished his degree in civil engineering in Iran. During Ramadan, he would religiously fast and pray 5 times a day. He viewed Christians as unclean people that ate pork and drank alcohol. Christians were targeted and imprisoned in Iran. Baptized Christians would get 12-13 years in prison. And if a Christian had shared their faith with others, or baptize believers, or pastored churches, they would get an even more severe punishment.
Shah worked at a petrochemical company. Because the company was very international, the Iranian government kept on questioning him about his relationship with the US and Israel. He finally received a warning that if he did not leave Iran immediately, he would be killed or be tortured to wipe away his memory. So Shah was forced to escape illegally, crossing the snowy border of Turkey and Iran. It was the hardest part of his life, going from being a successful senior engineer manager to simply surviving and running for his life.
Shah reached Turkey and it led him to drink and smoke to hide the pain. He started to wonder where God was. He later moved to the UK. Someone approached him and said, did you know Jesus loves you? Shah was originally self-righteous, but now felt condemned because of all his sin. On Christmas, he was invited to church. When they were worshipping, Shah laughed at Christianity. He didn't see the respect that God truly should have. But then, the presence of God filled Shah with something he had never felt before. Shah started weeping uncontrollably. This experience led him to compare the Bible and the Qur'an page to page for 8 months.
Then he got a dream. He dreamt he was dead in a coffin at a cemetery. He heard 'you where dead, but now you are alive'. He saw a cross full of light and fire and raised him out of the coffin and pushed him into a church. That morning he gave his life to Jesus.
Shah is now in the US, involved in ministry to share Christ to Iranians. Amazingly, 8 of his external family members came to Christ through dreams and visions. One of the eight stories includes that of his sister. In her dream, she saw the Jewish people praying at the wailing wall. the Muslims praying to the Ka'bah. And Jesus appeared saying that He is the only way (John 14:6). Today, a total of 32 family members have turned to Christ.
