Ramadan 2026 - Borderless Canada Prayer Guide

  I met Bishara a few years in my ESL class. He was one of my most faithful students, and has since become a dear friend. Along with other students, he has come to a cottage for a weekend of ice fishing two years in a row. Over the years we have had deep conversations about the gospel, often until late at night. One one such late nights, he even admitted to me that he can wrap his mind around the Christian monotheistic understanding of the Trinity. 

He greatly enjoys learning about Christianity and asks great questions but still remains a Muslim. Most Thursday nights he plays indoor soccer with some Christians from our partner church. He admitted to me that most of his beliefs in Islam are of a blind faith nature. Nothing could convince him otherwise, he told me, unless he received a personal revelation from God. 

Now as he went on his way, he approached Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven shone around him. And falling to the ground, he heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?”

1. Pray that he would have the courage to entertain the thought that Islam might      not be the answer.
2. Pray that the Lord would reveal Himself to Bishara in a way that he cannot      deny.
3. Pray that the Lord would reveal Himself to his wife as well, who has recently gotten to know us as well.

  J’ai rencontré Bishara il y a quelques années dans ma classe d’ESL. Il était l’un de mes étudiants les plus assidus et est devenu depuis un cher ami. Avec d’autres étudiants, il est venu au chalet pour un week-end de pêche sur glace deux années de suite.

Au fil des années, nous avons eu de profondes conversations sur l’Évangile, souvent jusqu’à tard le soir. Une de ces nuits, il m’a même confié qu’il parvient à comprendre, sur le plan intellectuel, la compréhension chrétienne monothéiste de la Trinité.

Il aime beaucoup apprendre sur le christianisme et pose d’excellentes questions, mais il reste encore musulman. La plupart des jeudis soirs, il joue au soccer en salle avec quelques chrétiens de notre église partenaire. Il m’a confié que la plupart de ses croyances en Islam sont de nature « foi aveugle ». Rien ne pourrait le convaincre autrement, m’a-t-il dit, à moins qu’il ne reçoive une révélation personnelle de Dieu.

 Comme il était en chemin et qu'il approchait de Damas, tout à coup, une lumière qui venait du ciel resplendit autour de lui. 4 Il tomba par terre et entendit une voix lui dire: « Saul, Saul, pourquoi me persécutes-tu? »
