Ramadan 2026 - Borderless Canada Prayer Guide

  Two brothers from Angola arrived in Canada years ago with their extended family under the guardianship of their grandmother, who speaks very little English. She has entrusted her "boys" to Camp Soar every summer since 2018, conversing with Jay and Laura in broken Swahili and smiling as she watches them grow. Over the years, the brothers have journeyed from campers to helpers—first as leaders-in-training, then as program assistants and "soccer fundis" (experts). Now graduated or nearly graduated from high school, they stand at a crossroads between childhood and adulthood. Their growing Christian faith has been nurtured through years of camp experiences, mentorship, and steady relationship. Jay and Laura continue to stay connected with them throughout the year, encouraging them as they navigate young adulthood while remaining committed to supporting Camp Soar. These brothers represent the fruit of long-term investment—young men who are strong, carrying God's word in their hearts.

  Deux frères originaires d’Angola sont arrivés au Canada il y a plusieurs années avec leur famille élargie, sous la garde de leur grand-mère, qui parle très peu anglais. Depuis 2018, elle confie ses « garçons » au Camp Soar chaque été, conversant avec Jay et Laura en swahili approximatif et souriant en les regardant grandir.

Au fil des années, les frères ont évolué de campeurs à aides — d’abord comme leaders en formation, puis comme assistants de programme et « experts en soccer » (soccer fundis). Maintenant diplômés ou presque du secondaire, ils se tiennent à la croisée de l’enfance et de l’âge adulte.

Leur foi chrétienne grandissante a été nourrie par des années d’expériences au camp, de mentorat et de relations constantes. Jay et Laura continuent de rester en contact avec eux tout au long de l’année, les encourageant à naviguer dans leur jeune vie d’adulte tout en restant engagés auprès du Camp Soar. Ces frères représentent le fruit d’un investissement à long terme — de jeunes hommes solides, portant la parole de Dieu dans leur cœur.
